Endobronchial Tube (also called double-lumen endotracheal tube)is an endotracheal tube designed to isolate the lungs anatomically and physiologically. Endobronchial Tubes are the commonly used tubes to provide independent ventilation for each lung. One-lung ventilation (OLV) or lung isolation is the mechanical and functional separation of the 2 lungs to allow selective ventilation of only one lung. The other lung that is not being ventilated passively deflates or is displaced by the surgeon to facilitate surgical exposure for non-cardiac operations in the chest such as thoracic, esophageal, aortic, and spine procedures.

View MoreEndobronchial tubes can effectively prevent aspiration and improve lung ventilation during anesthesia
Endobronchial tubes, especially double-lumen bronchial tubes, are important airway management tools in anesthesia and surgery, especially in surgeries that require single-lung ventilation (OLV) or lung isolation. Ningbo Yuxin Medical Instruments Co., Ltd., as a high-tech enterprise specializing in the production of anesthesia respiratory consumables, its products are crucial in ensuring patient safety and optimizing surgical results.
The main function of an endobronchial tube is to provide independent ventilation capabilities for each lung. This tube is designed to anatomically and physiologically isolate the two lungs, allowing anesthesiologists to selectively ventilate according to surgical needs. Especially in thoracic surgeries, such as chest, esophageal, aortic and spinal surgeries, bronchial intubation can effectively isolate the lungs to provide a clearer surgical field of view and better operating conditions.
One-lung ventilation (OLV) refers to mechanical ventilation of only one lung through bronchial intubation, while the other lung is passively deflated. This mechanism is crucial for surgical operations, especially when it is necessary to reduce lung movement or avoid interference with gas exchange. For example, during lung tumor resection, anesthesiologists need to ensure that the lungs in the surgical area remain gas-free to reduce bleeding and improve surgical outcomes.
The advantages of using bronchial intubation are:
Preventing aspiration: By isolating the airway, the risk of gas and secretions entering the unventilated lungs is reduced, thereby reducing the incidence of postoperative pneumonia and other complications.
Improving lung ventilation: Bronchial intubation can provide better ventilation control, ensuring that patients can maintain proper oxygenation and ventilation during anesthesia.
Flexible ventilation management: During surgery, anesthesiologists can adjust the ventilation mode at any time as needed to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the surgery.
The success of bronchial intubation depends on the skills and experience of the anesthesiologist. When intubating, doctors need to consider the patient's anatomy, pathology, and type of surgery. Confirming the position of the catheter is the key to successful intubation. Common methods include airway auscultation, chest X-ray, and visualization techniques. After surgery, doctors need to regularly evaluate ventilation to ensure that the catheter is in the correct position to avoid complications such as airway damage and catheter obstruction. In addition, the use of high-quality respiratory filters and suction tubes can further reduce the risk of infection and ensure the safety of patients during postoperative recovery.
Ningbo Yuxin Medical Instruments Co., Ltd. has significant technical advantages in the field of anesthesia respiratory consumables. Its products cover a variety of professional equipment from medical laryngeal masks, endotracheal tubes to heat and moisture exchange filters, all of which have passed ISO13485 quality system certification to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the products.
